Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines football scholarship for his family and service in the local community. First of all the Selmons were born by Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They lived on an agricultural property near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. Two, football. He is among the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. They also won 2 national titles. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week during his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Representative at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he joined the University of South Fla's athletic department as its associate director. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Selmons' parents Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
